The Breccia Cliffs' history
The location of Breksi Cliff Park was formerly a natural rock mining site before becoming a tourist destination. The neighborhood participates in this mining operation. There are locations around the mining site where rock is cut from the mining process and used as construction decorative materials.
Mining operations in this area have been suspended by the government since 2014. This closure was made based on a study's findings that the rocks at this mining site were made as a result of the Nglanggeran Ancient Volcano's volcanic activity. The mining site is then declared a protected area, and mining operations are forbidden.
After the closure of the mining activity, the community decorated this former mining site to become a tourist spot worth visiting. In May 2015, to be precise, the Breksi Cliff was inaugurated by Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X as a new tourist spot in Jogja.
Breksi Cliff's potential for tourism

This tourist destination must be among the most intriguing to visit due to a variety of factors, including the fact that it is situated near a cliff. The reason is that it contains a lot of natural tourist attractions that should not be ignored, like the view of the cliff cliffs with their artistically shattered ornamentation. Since this cliff was essentially created millions of years ago and was utilized as a mining place. The vestiges of this mining operation are still able to exhibit sculptured ornamentation that give the cliff the appearance of a layer cake even though it is no longer employed as a mining location.
That is one of its potentials, so this cliff is very interesting to visit. Taking pictures with a cliff as a backdrop seems to be one of the things that must be done. Therefore, it's no wonder that this cliff is one of the favorite places to take pictures, especially for couples who are doing pre-wedding sessions and other special moments. The most special thing about being on this cliff is that, from the top of the cliff, tourists can see the whole city of Jogja. Even people's activities can be seen from the top of the cliff, such as planes taking off, vehicles going back and forth, and so on.
